As the temperature warms up, we find ourselves enjoying the outdoors more and more. Whether its your full-time home or your are off to the cabin for a family getaway, here are some fun DIY games for the whole family to enjoy.

  1. Cornhole

Cornhole is a classic game that is easy to make and can provide hours of entertainment. All you need are two wooden boards with holes, bean bags, and some paint. Set up the boards a 24-27 feet apart and take turns tossing the bean bags into the holes. Here is an easy DIY by HGTV to build your own Cornhole game.

  1. Giant Jenga

Giant Jenga is a fun twist on the classic game. Cut some wooden blocks into equal sizes and stack them into a tower. Take turns removing a block from the tower and placing it on top without making the tower fall. You can also a build a carrying case, or just focus on the giant game itself.

  1. Yard Twister

Create a giant Twister board on the grass using spray paint. Divide the board into four sections and assign each section a color. Use a spinner to determine which body part and color to place on the board. See “How To” and images here!

  1. Water Balloon Piñata

Fill up some water balloons and hang them from a tree branch using string. Blindfold the player and give them a stick to hit the water balloons. The player with the most broken water balloons wins.

  1. Obstacle Course

Create an obstacle course using items you have around the cabin, such as chairs, hula hoops, cones, and ropes. Time each player as they navigate through the course and see who can complete it the fastest.  Have the whole family join in to create part of the course for some added fun!

  1. Scavenger Hunt

Create a scavenger hunt list with items found around the cabin, such as a pinecone, a leaf, a rock, and a feather. Divide into teams and see who can find all the items on the list first.

  1. Yard Dice

There are so many fun games you can play with yard dice, like Yardtzee, Yarkel, and Snake Eyes! Home Depo has a great DIY tutorial if you opt to make them yourself, or find some for purchase here.
