Are you at the point of choosing the stain color for your beautiful log home? If so, you should test out several stain samples, to ensure you are able to pick the color you want the first time.
Because there are so many different types of wood (ages, species, etc.), wood preparation methods (power washed, media blasted, hand-sanded, etc.) and wood preparation types, the same stain can look very different when applied on any of these variables.
Once you have your stain samples selected, it is important that you find the right spot to test it on, usually at least two square-foot area. When you are ready to apply on the selected area, be sure you mix the stain sample thoroughly, then apply the stain according to product directions. While applying the stain, be sure you are doing so in the same way you intend to apply on your full home. After it is applied, let it dry fully before evaluating the color to make your decision.
